Week 6 NFL Betting – Ravens vs Buccaneers
Bucs QB Mike Glennon Likely Starts Again as Bucs Host Ravens
By Charles Jay
The Ravens vs Buccaneers betting line is up at BetAnySports and the Ravens are the road favorites here:
Baltimore Ravens -3.5 (-105)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3.5 (-115)
Over 43.5 Points -110
Under 43.5 Points -110
After a nightmarish game in the Georgia Dome in which they were slapped around to the tune of a 56-14 defeat by the Atlanta Falcons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been rather feisty in the last couple of games. In fact, they could have easily won two in a row with quarterback Mike Glennon re-assuming the starting role. Glennon is on track to start another game for Tampa Bay on Sunday, as the Bucs play host to the Baltimore Ravens in pro football betting action that is slated to kick off at 1 PM ET at Raymond James Stadium.
Glennon has only completed 58% of his passes, which in this day and age doesn’t seem to BetAnySports patrons like such a sizzling number. But one thing has been able to do in more than respectable fashion is keep the ball out of the hands of the opposition. Last season, as a rookie, he threw 19 touchdown passes with only nine interceptions. This year he’s got five TDs with only two picks.
Baltimore looked like it was coming around offensively, but they had a horrible performance in that regard last week as they were beaten by the Indianapolis Colts. They will need to get some more out of their running game, which is altogether possible, and they have to put themselves in better third-down situations. Those two things may be intertwined, as they often are.
How bad were the Ravens on the offensive side against Indianapolis? Well, they only had the ball for only 21 minutes, to begin with. One of the reasons for THAT is the fact that they were only able to convert one out of their 11 third-down opportunities. With 287 total yards, all of this to not add up to a winning formula, although they still managed to keep things competitive in the 20-13 loss. One thing they are obviously hoping for is some more production from Steve Smith. He has been a great addition as a veteran big-play receiver, as pro football bettors know, and he already has 30 catches this season, which projects to 96 over a period of sixteen games.
The psychological effect of Tampa Bay losing a 37-31 overtime decision to the New Orleans Saints after blowing an eleven-point lead is not really known to BetAnySports customers. They are going to be without rookie wide receiver Mike Evans for this one, but Vincent Jackson connected with Glennon last week for 144 yards through the air. The Bucs need more out of the rushing game to achieve balance, but Baltimore is one of those teams that does a very good job stuffing the run (3.4 yards per carry allowed).
What you can say about the Buccaneers is the fact that it was no easy feat going into New Orleans and even covering the game against the pro football odds. When you consider that with Sean Payton on the sidelines, the Saints went into that contest with a 17-0-1 record against the football pointspread in their last 18 games at the Superdome, you can appreciate how well they played.
