The Minnesota Vikings are smarting right now, as they have come off one of their worst performances of the year. They were absolutely snuffed out by the Seattle Seahawks, and this week they go up against a team that might be better on both sides of the ball when they visit the Arizona Cardinals in the Thursday night game that is televised live by NFL Network at 8:25 PM ET from the University of Phoenix Stadium. Even after the opening kickoff, BetAnySports customers will have an opportunity to test themselves against the NFL betting odds as they place wagers in real time using state-of-the-art software provided by Live Betting Extra.
Vikings vs Cardinals – BetAnySports NFL BETTING LINE:
In the reduced juice Thursday night NFL betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Arizona is the decisive favorite:
- Arizona Cardinals -7.5 (-105)
- Minnesota Vikings 7.5 (-105)
- Over 46.5 points -105
- Under 46.5 points -105
Minnesota’s 38-7 loss to the Seahawks featured a dismal effort on offense. The Vikings had only 125 total yards and nine first downs. Adrian Peterson, who had been on a hot streak, was held to 18 yards on eight carries. So obviously this is a team looking for some redemption, and this may be a spot for them, as they have covered their last five road games.
The Cardinals keep rolling along, and they are now on a six-game winning streak, after blowing out the St. Louis Rams 27-3 last week. They held St. Louis’ rookie running back Todd Gurley to just 41 yards, and even without Chris Johnson in the lineup, they managed 175 rushing yards of their own.

One of the things Minnesota has to guard against is over-reliance on Peterson, who has had quite a comeback year, chalking up 1182 yards already. But they are just not getting a dynamic performance out of Teddy Bridgewater, who has been sacked 34 times and has thrown just eight touchdown passes. Mike Wallace, the major acquisition on offense, has not worked out well, with just 30 receptions. In fact, the most surprising performer has been unsung rookie Stefon Diggs, who has caught 42 passes and averaged almost 15 yards per catch. Still, when Peterson can rush for at least 100 yards, Minnesota is 6-0 straight-up on the season.
The Cardinals have been chugging along on offense with Carson Palmer a viable candidate for Most Valuable Player. Palmer has averaged nine yards per attempt, with 29 touchdown passes and 3693 yards. BetAnySports patrons who like to look at drive stats will note that Arizona leads the league in yards gained per drive and is second in points scored per drive.

Minnesota’s problems in the red zone have been something they have had to overcome. They are just 29th in the NFL with 43.3% touchdowns when they get inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. But this is a team that is tied for the NFC North lead at 8-4, and they should get some pressure on the quarterback (27 sacks on the season).
However, the bigger story might be whether Minnesota can get some protection for Bridgewater, who is in his second year and shows promise, but sometimes takes a little too long to make his decisions. One glaring difference between these two squads is the offensive output on a per-play basis; Arizona, which has developed a powerhouse attack, averages 6.6 yards per play, while Minnesota is at 5.4. What can the Vikings due to derail the Cardinals on their way to a possible first-round playoff bye?
