Seahawks vs Bengals – Week 5 NFL Betting Preview
Week 5 NFL GAME OF THE WEEK – Undefeated Bengals Get Big Test Against Seahawks

The argument can be made that, with the possible exception of the New England Patriots, the most impressive team in the NFL this season has been the Cincinnati Bengals, who have gotten off to a 4-0 start and are averaging over a yard more than their opponents on a per-play basis. Those are certainly impressive numbers, but the litmus test could come on Sunday as they face off against the defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks, who like to think they have gathered some momentum with two straight victories. This game, which will be televised by the Fox Network, will begin at 1 PM ET at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati. And BetAnySports customers will have the opportunity to watch the game and place wagers against the pro football betting odds while it is in progress, through the magic of Live Betting Extra.
Seahawks vs Bengals – BetAnySports NFL BETTING LINE
In the pro football betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Cincinnati’s laying a field goal at home:
- Cincinnati Bengals -3 (-115)
- Seattle Seahawks +3 (-105)
- Over 43 points -110
- Under 43 points -110
Certainly this will be a challenge for the Bengals, to have acquired a well-earned reputation as a team that can punched somebody’s lights out in the regular season but falters in the playoffs. In a sense, however, it is also a big test for Seattle, which has lost both times it has been on the road. And if you watched last Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions, you would come to the conclusion that the Seahawks are indeed rather fortunate to have come out of that with a victory, as the Lions’ Calvin Johnson was one yard from the end zone when he fumbled in the late going, negating a possible go-ahead touchdown for Detroit.
The status of Seattle’s star running back, Marshawn Lynch, has been ruled on as of Friday afternoon, and he is indeed out, as he deals with his hamstring injury. That will put more pressure on quarterback Russell Wilson, who committed two fumbles last week.

In the Lynch’s absence, the Seahawks will turn once again to rookie Thomas Rawls, who had 104 yards against Chicago in Week 3 but was slowed down a little against Detroit. It would have been nice for them to have veteran Fred Jackson available, but he is dealing with a high ankle sprain, so he is sidelined as well. Wilson, as it turns out, is Seattle’s leading rusher, with 177 yards. But while he was improvising against the Lions last week, he put the ball on thge ground twice, and one of those miscues was picked up and run in for touchdown.
There are going to be skeptics, particularly out there in the BetAnySports audience, who are not going to believe the Bengals quite yet. But there is some evidence that they can continue to be a regular-season monster. Andy Dalton is having his best year as a pro, averaging over ten yards per passing attempt on 67% accuracy, with a ratio of nine touchdowns to only one interception. And he has been sacked only twice. The Seahawks are normally not very big on sending a lot of people after the quarterback, preferring to get it done in coverage. So it’s quite possible that Dalton will have time to throw. And it helps that Pro Bowl receiver AJ Green is getting some support from his friends. Tyler Eifert has been a revelation at tight end, catching 16 passes for 222 yards. It has been really nice for the Bengals to have Marvin Jones available out on the flank.
The Cincinnati backfield of Giovanni Bernard and Jeremy Hill appears to be an ideal combination of “thunder and lightning,” and Hill gave some indications last week against the Kansas City Chiefs that he is ready to get himself uncorked. Cincinnati has been a very tough team at home against the football pointspread – in the regular-season that is, compiling a 17-3-1 ATS record over their last 21 outings.
