Raiders vs Titans September 25th, 2016 – Week 3 NFL Betting Preview
It looks as if the Tennessee Titans are a much tougher bunch than they were last season, and they’re playing some hard-nosed football under coach Mike Mularkey, who was admittedly a surprise re-hiring after being the “interim” guy in the wake of Ken Whisenhunt’s firing last season. And Tennessee will look to slow down the tempo as they play host to the Oakland Raiders in Sunday afternoon NFL action that begins at 1 PM ET at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Football bettors who are signed up for an account with BetAnySports will have the opportunity to place wagers as the game is in progress, as they partake in what Live Betting Ultra has to offer.

A Closer Look at the Tennessee Titans:
- Season record: 1-1 SU,1-1 ATS
- Tennessee is 1-8-1 ATS in its last 10 games
- Tennessee is 4-21 SU in its last 25 games
- The total has gone OVER in 4 of Tennessee’s last 5 games
Tennessee seems to have a real commitment to the defensive side of the football now, as Dick LeBeau is implementing his strategies. The Hall of Famer came to Nashville to work on the staff after he was shown the door in Pittsburgh. So far the Titans have allowed only one offensive touchdown from scrimmage in the first two games. So far, so good.
The Raiders have allowed more passing yards than anyone in the National Football League. The question is, to what degree can the Titans exploit that? We know that they have a former Heisman Trophy winner and Marcus Mariota at quarterback, but he is definitely a work in progress. What Mularkey wants to do is rely on the running game, specifically DeMarco Murray, who has averaged 5.2 yards per carry over the first two games. What is important to note is that this team will use both Murray and Derrick Henry, the rookie Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama, out of the backfield on pass patterns.
The Titans limited Matthew Stafford to just 22 completions in 40 attempts last week, and the week before, they kept Minnesota quarterback Shaun Hill in check. What they need is more offense that is going to get the ball over the goal line.
A Closer Look at the Oakland Raiders:
- Season record: 1-1 SU,1-1 ATS
- Oakland is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games on the road
- Oakland is 6-19 SU in its last 25 games on the road
- Oakland is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Tennessee
Oakland coach Jack Del Rio showed a lot of guts in the season opener, as instead of going for a tie after a late touchdown against the New Orleans Saints, he decided to attempt a two-point conversion and succeeded. That shows a lot of confidence in his offense, and why not? Carr has completed just under 70% of his passes this season with 618 yards through the air. Amari Cooper is looking like a budding superstar, averaging 18.9 yards per catch, and there is an outstanding committee at running back, with Latavius Murray, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard all averaging over five yards per carry.
Will this have to be a shootout? Well, the Titans certainly don’t want it to go that way; they would rather control the ball and the clock and keep Carr and his talented group of offensive weapons off the field. The Raiders have averaged 42.3 yards per drive on offense, and that is #1 in the NFL through the first two contests.
The “D” story is a bit different in Oakland, as this defense is not showing much at all. The Raiders have allowed more than 500 yards in each of the first two games, and they have permitted a little over 50 yards per drive, which is the league’s worst figure. It’s a good thing the offense is humming at the moment, behind third-year quarterback Derek Carr, who completed 34 out of his 45 passes last week, albeit in a losing effort against the Atlanta Falcons.
Next up:
- Oakland at Baltimore Sunday, October 2
- Tennessee at Houston Sunday, October 2
