    North Carolina comes into this game with a record that is all even at 6-6 straight-up, and they are 5-7 against the football pointspread. The program has been under fire this season, with all kinds of allegations about academic fraud. Unquestionably the NCAA will sort things out sooner or later, but that should not upset this team’s preparation for this ballgame, inasmuch as this team scored big victories in two of its last three games. The interesting part of it is that this team has been able to win some shootouts, namely over teams like ACC runner-up Georgia Tech (48-43) and Pittsburgh (40-35). They also scored a very decisive victory over nasty neighbor Duke (45-20) coming down the stretch. But in the big rivalry game, which took place in the season finale against North Carolina State, they were trampled by a 35-7 score.

    North Carolina’s Marquise Williams is a bit of a different story; he may not be terrifically polished as a passer, but he has been good enough to complete 63% of his throws for 2870 yards, and in only one game was he intercepted more than once (that was the season opener). He also seems to play very well against good teams. Plus, unlike Nova, Williams is someone who can take control of a game with his ability to run, as he led the Tar Heels with 737 rushing yards.
