The Baltimore Ravens have had a very strong recent history playing against the New England Patriots in the playoffs, and they have proven to be completely unafraid to go into enemy territory in the pursuit of a Super Bowl. On Saturday the Ravens will be getting points as they go into battle at Gillette Stadium in NFL playoff betting action that is set to begin at 4:35 PM ET.

BetAnySports customers know that you can’t argue with success, and the Ravens have won their last two post-season games in Foxborough, including the 28-13 victory two years ago where they advanced to their ultimate Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers, and may have made it three straight if not for a missed field goal in the 2011 AFC title game. And it certainly looks as if they are peaking at the right time, as evidenced by a decisive 30-17 win at Pittsburgh last week. That brought John Harbaugh’s team to 11-6 straight-up and 9-8 against the football pointapread. And it also brought quarterback Joe Flacco to 7-4 straight-up in the playoffs, which is truly a remarkable slate, considering that he started it when he was a rookie.

The Patriots, like most teams that had a first-round bye, like to think the rest has done them some good, and they could be in better shape offensively than they were last year, primarily because they have gotten an All-Pro season out of Rob Gronkowski, who has had an amazing season returning from injury. Of course, the Pats’ narrative is well-known by now; they started out 2-2 and were written off by many after a 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. But they lost only once in their next eleven games before dropping a 17-9 decision to Buffalo in what was a relatively meaningless season finale. New England was the AFC East champions, with a record of 12-4 straight-up and 9-7 ATS.

In the NFL playoff betting odds that have been placed on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, the Pats are favored by a touchdown:

    New England Patriots -7 (+100)
    Baltimore Ravens +7 (-120)

    Over 47.5 points -110
    Under 47.5 points -110

The Ravens were left out of the playoff picture last season, but came back this season with a more complete passing attack, with the addition of Steve Smith, who not only caught 79 passes during the regular season (for 1065 yards), but also snagged five passes for 101 yards in the playoff win over the Steelers. Torrey Smith (767 yards, 11 TD’s) is dangerous on the other side, and tight end Owen Daniels was brought over from Houston to re-unite with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak.

But as most BetAnySports patrons are aware, maybe the biggest story for Baltimore involves what happened after the Ray Rice incident was ruled upon by the NFL. Of course, Rice got suspended for an assault on his wife, and the team released him upon seeing a videotape of the incident. That is why it was so timely that Justin Forsett stepped in and filled the void, racking up 1266 yards with a 5.4-yard average, which creates solid balance. Defensively, the team is stronger now that Haloti Ngata back from his four-game suspension. The Ravens are tough against the run as it is, surrendering just 3.6 yards a carry, and they ranked second in the league in sacks, with Elvis Dumervil and Terrell Suggs combining for 29 of them. They are ready to put some pressure on Tom Brady, who has 33 TD’s and just nine interceptions and has found the aforementioned Gronkowski 82 times for 1124 yards.
