NCAA Football Betting – Golson is On The Move – Somewhere
Everett Golson apparently wasn’t satisfied with his situation at Notre Dame, and has decided to take his act on the road. The former starting quarterback is going to take advantage of an NCAA rule that allows players who have graduated a chance to play their final year of eligibility at another school without having to sit out a season, and one of the schools that is evidently very interested is Alabama.
BetAnySports NCAA Football Betting customers who follow these situations closely know that there is a problem with that, as SEC conference rules may prevent him from participating because of the academic-related suspension that was imposed on Golson that sat him out for all of 2013.
But the interest from Nick Saban nonetheless began a lot of speculation among Alabama followers as to what all this meant for the man who was supposed to be the starter LAST season and was generally considered to be the guy who would step in now that Blake Sims is gone, We are talking about Jake Coker, who seemed to have everyone excited as an eligible transfer from Florida State last season but was overcome in drills by Sims, who simply outperformed him and better chemistry with his offensive teammates. Sims went on to have an outstanding season, although he wasn’t necessarily considered to be an ideal quarterback to run a pro style offense under coordinator Lane Kiffin.
Ohio State is the favorite to repeat as national champions, priced at +800 in the NCAA football betting futures odds at BetAnySports, and Alabama is next in line at +800. Braxton Miller, the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback until he suffered an injury that kept him out all of last season, is also a possibility for Alabama, as he is a graduate eligible too. But he is not the prototypical pro-style quarterback either.
Neither is Golson, who led Notre Dame to the national title game against Alabama three seasons ago. Furthermore, after Golson returned fro his suspension, although he showed a different resolve and dedication,he wasn’t ail that efficient on the football field, demonstrating improved arm strength but also turning it over 22 times. Things got so bad that he lost his starting job to Malik Zaire – now a junior – for the Music City Bowl against LSU. Coach Brian Kelly had indicated that the competition to start at QB would be wide open, and shortly thereafter, Golson announced his decision to transfer.
Interestingly enough, while Golson was listed as a Heisman candidate last season, he is obviously nowhere to be found as of yet, as he is a young man without a team. But Coker is listed at +5000 in the Heisman Trophy betting odds currently posted at BetAnySports.
Golson had to list ten schools where he had an interest in transferring. And one of those was Florida State, where Coker departed from, rather than compete with eventual Heisman winner (and #1 NFL pick) Jameis Winston. Coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that he met with Golson, who almost led Notre Dame to a victory in Tallahassee this season, and who would represent a sharp contrast in styles to Winston. Florida was another team Golson met with, but he might find the same SEC road blocks there.
Alabama begins its season on September 5 with a game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX against Wisconsin, and the early line has them favored by 12.5 points at BetAnySports, where customer can bet futures and advance lines on college and pro football right now, and get reduced juice on current basketball action!
