Can the Golden State Warriors possibly be derailed? They come into the All-Star break with a record of 48-4, which places and 3.5 games ahead of the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference. So of course they can be overcome for the #1 seed in the West. But when it comes down to it, are we looking at a team that will not only repeat as NBA champions but also make history with the all-time best record in the league?

Golden State Warriors – NBA Futures Betting at BetAnySports

At BetAnySports , they are the solid favorites to capture the NBA championship, priced at +120, followed by the Cleveland Cavaliers at +275. The Cavs have the Toronto Raptors breathing down their neck, although the respect is not the same for the Toronto bunch, which is listed at +3000. The Spurs are at +450, and there are some knowledgeable observers who truly believe that the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the 1-2 punch of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, are genuine threat. They are priced at +1200.

At the current pace, the Warriors will finish with between 75 and 76 wins, which will shatter the NBA record that is held by the Chicago Bulls, who went 72-10 in the 1995-96 season. Of course, there are a lot of factors that could affect the win total, namely the motivation on the part of coach Steve Kerr to rest starters in the final stages of the season, especially if this team has clinched the top seed in the conference.

Maybe it depends on how badly they want to make THAT kind of history.

What should be kept in mind at all times by BetAnySports patrons is that the team that offers the greatest challenge for Golden State making it into the NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs, is going to make sure that it is very well-rested. Why? Because the Spurs ALWAYS do that. It is a hallmark of great Popovich’s strategy and philosophy, which is that it is better to have his players fresh than to be able to exercise home-court advantage, if it comes down to a choice between the two.

And that is an interesting thing to note, because Golden State can indeed beat one of the Bulls’ records – that of consecutive regular-season wins at home. Currently their streak is at 42, and they need only three more to eclipse that mark. They are also 24-0 at the Oracle Arena this season.

The Warriors are right behind San Antonio in the battle to be the best shooting team in the NBA, hitting 49% of their shots, and they are 42.4% accurate from three-point range, which makes them the NBA leaders by far. They are also just ahead of Chicago and San Antonio defensively, making them the stingiest team to shoot against, with opponents making only 43% of their shots. And there happens to be a tremendous gap between Golden State offensively and defensively behind the arc; they have allowed foes only 31.4% from long-range, which means they defend the perimeter better than anyone else as well.

But then, what else would you expect from a team that is 48-4, the best record through 52 games of any team in NBA annals?

This situation is so good, and so harmonious, that Luke Walton, who served on an interim basis in place of Kerr, who was recovering from back surgeries, and ran up a record of 39-4 in that pursuit, might reject any head-coaching overtures during the off-season, because he is happy just where he is. The Knicks were one of the teams rumored to be interested in his services, due to the past association with Phil Jackson, and if you remember, Kerr, who also had a connection with Jackson from his days in Chicago, rejected the Knicks in favor of the Warriors.

It’s safe to say he made the right decision.
