NBA Finals Odds – Warriors Comeback? Maybe and Maybe Not
By Charles Jay
NBA Finals odds
In the NBA Finals odds that have been established on this Thursday night game by the people at BetAnySports, the Warriors are once again favored:
Golden State Warriors -2.5
Cleveland Cavaliers +2.5
Over 193 points -110
Under 193 points -110
The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to do mostly what they want to do out there on the floor against the Golden State Warriors. They are hassling the Golden State shooters and making shots much more difficult for them, and they are dictating the tempo at which the game is played. So as they took the floor for Game 3, it didn’t matter all that much that Lebron James shot for a rather low percentage once again (14-34) or that his team was beaten in the three-pointer department. They did what they had to WHEN they had to, and apparently they got more of the benefit of the officials’ calls as they came away with a 96-91 victory to go up two games to one in the series.
Game 4 is scheduled for 9 PM ET at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. And we’ve got great news for customers at BetAnySports, as they can place wagers on the side, total and various props while the game is actually in progress through the facilities of Live Betting Extra.
It obviously was totally uncharacteristic of Golden State to score 37 points in the first half, but that is what is going to happen with the Warriors when they can only get one field goal and three points out of their star player who was the league’s Most Valuable Player, Steph Curry. To their credit, they were able to come on toward the end, scoring 36 points in the fourth quarter, but when they got very close, it was time for Cleveland to put their brakes on.
They would seem to be a number of different reasons to support a Golden State comeback in the fourth game of this series. We mentioned the 36-point eruption in the fourth quarter, and also Curry really came alive in the second half, scoring 24 of his 27 points. You can also offer the opinion that even though the Golden State duo of Curry and Klay Thompson made only 11 out of 42 attempts from three-point territory over the first two games, they still managed to take those two games into overtime. And, having shot just 40% and going to the free-throw line only a dozen times, PLUS getting just four field goals out of the entire starting frontline, they still managed to be in the game until the very end.
In other words, maybe BetAnySports patrons should consider what Golden State can do when they realize their upside.
But will that upside come out on Thursday? Remember that Cleveland has now gone 27-2 straight-up over its last 29 home games, and the 40% Golden State shot is pretty consistent with what the Cavaliers have given up to the opposition during that time (41.5%). The Warriors have not been known as a team that attacks the basket all that much and gets to the line, and at this point there free-throw attempts are about 17.6% as much as their field-goal attempts. On top of that, the pace has gotten even a bit slower, as these clubs have combined for 89.7 possessions per 48 minutes, much more to the Cavaliers’ liking.
