It seems like the Memphis Grizzlies can hardly take a wrong step lately, and that coincides with the return of point guard Mike Conley to the lineup. Conley took an elbow to the face in Game 3 of the previous series against the Portland Trail Blazers and shattered some bones, which required surgery. He was back for Game 2 in a Memphis uniform, and BetAnySports patrons saw that the effect was immediate. The Grizzlies have re-asserted themselves as one of the top defensive teams in the NBA, along with being a squad that is starting to impose its edge in post-season experience. They have the Golden State Warriors, the NBA’s best team this season with 67 victories, on the ropes, and if they can win on Monday night (9:35 PM ET) at the FedEx Forum, they will be one game away from advancing to the West finals for the second time in three years.

The Grizzlies have done a great job holding the Splash Brothers in check. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have shot just 24% from three-point range over the last two games, and Curry is under 40% overall in the series. Why? It’s because Memphis knows how to take those guys off their “mark,” so to speak, putting them into positions where they are shooting from spots on the floor they aren’t used to. And they are making Golden State work extra hard for every opportunity. That is what this team is designed to do, and that is why Memphis can be exactly where it is at right now despite scoring more than 100 points only once during this playoff season.

In the NBA betting odds that have been posted on Game 4 in this series by the people at BetAnySports, Golden State is laying a number on the road:

    Golden State Warriors -4
    Memphis Grizzlies +4

    Over 195.5 points -110
    Under 195.5 points -110

If you can stop those two superstars in the backcourt, you can control Golden State. This is what Memphis knew going into the series, and with Conley back on board, they can execute that game plan. Certainly they are playing at a pace that is very much to their liking, and these last two victories they have scored are the only two occasions all season long were the Warriors have lost to a team they have held under the century mark.

Now Memphis gets to affect another milestone, as they try to deal Golden State its first three-game losing streak of the season. The Grizzlies are 35-10 straight up at home, but BetAnySports patrons know that the Warriors are indeed “road warriors,” with a 30-14 straight-up ledger as the visitor, including the two wins they registered at New Orleans, one of which came as a result of a near-miraculous 20-point fourth-quarter comeback. Don’t make any mistake about the fact that the Warriors are a resilient bunch.

But the Grizzlies are forcing turnovers, and on Saturday they turned 17 Golden State miscues into 22 points. They also have the physical edge; there is absolutely no doubt about that. Marc Gasol, a former Defensive Player of the Year, had 21 points and 15 rebounds in a Game 3, as the Grizzlies held a commanding 46-32 edge in the paint. The question is what the Warriors can do to beat Memphis back on the boards. If they can’t, it’s going to be a long flight back home for Game 5.
