Miami vs Georgia Tech October 1st, 2016 – NCAAF Betting Preview
So far, so good for the Miami Hurricanes in their first season under head coach Mark Richt. They have outscored their opponents by a 153-23 margin, and they are in a pretty good scheduling situation, coming off a bye week. Now they engage in ACC play as they take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a game that will begin at Noon ET on Saturday. This takes place at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, and BetAnySports customers can continue with their action even after the opening kickoff, as they take advantage of dynamic odds through the state-of-the-art software provided by Live Betting Ultra.
Miami vs Georgia Tech – BetAnySports NCAAF BETTING LINE:
In the odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Miami is the favorite:
Miami Hurricanes -7
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +7
Over 53.5 points -110
Under 53.5 points -110
Richt, who was fired by the Georgia Bulldogs after last season, is obviously very familiar with this opponent. When he was in Athens he played this traditional rival every season. And guess what? His record was pretty good; with the Bulldogs he was 8-0, both straight-up and ATS, playing at this particular venue.
Georgia Tech was a disappointing 3-9 straight-up last season, and last week they lost a 26-7 decision to Clemson. Paul Johnson is the head coach, and that means the Yellow Jackets run the triple option, which has the ability to confound defenses, but not Miami, which is had a lot of success recently against this opponent.
The Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference appears to be wide open, and that means Miami should have a very good opportunity to get to the conference title game at the end of the season. This is in stark contrast to the Atlantic Division, which has teams like Clemson, Florida State and Louisville. With quarterback Brad Kaaya at the controls, Miami should always have a chance. Kaaya has a big arm and is considered to be one of the top NFL prospectst at his position in the country. He tweaked a knee in the last game against Appalachian State, but is listed as probable for this game.
Quarterback Justin Thomas and running back Dedric Mills key the attack for Georgia Tech; Mills is averaging 4.2 yards per carry, which is not sensational but he leads the team with 201 yards on the ground. Thomas is only 45% accurate as a passer with one touchdown, and he has a 3.8-yard average on the ground. Obviously these stats are not imposing.
BetAnySports patrons should probably know that Miami has won and covered six of the last seven meetings against Georgia Tech, so between that and the success of Richt against them, pointspread trends are certainly in their favor.
And as mentioned, they are coming off the bye week, but there is a potential look-ahead situation, as the ‘Canes face off against Florida State next week. These two weeks will be serving as quite a barometer for the squad, as they are seeking consistency under Richt, a former UM quarterback who is known as someone who cracks the whip after uneven performances.
So what will be a key to this game? Well, Miami’s speed on defense is one of them, and they have the ability to slow down Georgia Tech in first down situations. That, in turn, might force Thomas to the air, and even though Georgia Tech sometimes enjoys the element of surprise when he puts it in the air, when it is an obvious passing situation, they could find trouble. That is not where they want to be.
