Dodgers Send Greinke to Mound Against Cardinals
Baseball Betting at BetAnySports
by Charles Jay
The Los Angeles Dodgers failed to gain any ground on the San Francisco Giants on Friday night, but they are still charging hard in the National League West. In fact, they are even getting closer to the .500 plateau at home. In pursuit of shrinking San Francisco’s lead even further, they will send one of their best pitchers to the mound on Saturday night as they opposed the St. Louis Cardinals, in baseball betting action that is set to get underway at 10:10 PM ET at Dodger Stadium.
Zack Greinke has been consistent this season, to say the least. His 9-4 record and 2.89 ERA mean that it is very possible he will be named as one of the NL’s pitchers for the annual All-Star Game. More importantly, for purposes of this conversation, he has been a real stopper for the Dodgers at Chavez Ravine. But an argument can be made that he has met his match in the Cardinals’ Lance Lynn, who was one of the hottest pitchers in baseball right now.
In the baseball betting odds that have been made available on this game by the people at BetAnySports , the Dodgers are favored:
Los Angeles Dodgers (Greinke – R) -139
St. Louis Cardinals (Lynn – R) +129
Over 6.5 Runs -125
Under 6.5 Runs +105
These teams met in the National League Championship Series last season, and it is altogether conceivable that they could make it back there again, although neither club is in the lead in its own division. The Dodgers lost a 3-1 decision on Friday night, as starter Carlos Martinez did a great job for the Cardinals. That defeat leaves Los Angeles with a 45-37 record, and they trail the Giants by two games, as mentioned. St. Louis is 44-37, and that makes them the second-place team in the NL’s Central, 5.5 games behind the walkie. If the season ended today, the Dodgers and Cardinals would be the two wild-card entries in the National League.
Baseball betting fans saw that Greinke did not have much success against his former teammates in Kansas City in his last start, leaving after two outs in the sixth inning and haven’t given up five runs. But Greinke has a new home now, and he has been very efficient in Dodger Stadium, with a 2.39 ERA in this ballpark since he has joined the team. BetAnySports customers may also want to take note that in the last five meetings against the Cardinals, Greinke has a 1.83 ERA, and two of those appearances took place in the NLCS, so he has gotten the job done under pressure.
Lynn is going to be a formidable opponent. Not only is he 8-5 with a 2.90 earned run average on the season, he has been especially hard to hit over his last three starts, with a 0.82 ERA. He is also, in this game, going after his fifth straight win over the Dodgers. It doesn’t look like Los Angeles has been in a hitting mood against St. Louis, as in the first two games of this series they have scored just two runs on twelve base hits.
