Bears vs Giants Odds 2018 Week 13 NFL Betting Preview
During the bye week, New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur kind of read the riot act to quarterback Eli Manning, or at least as much as an unproven head coach can do to a quarterback who has two Super Bowl MVP trophies on his mantle. But what he basically said was that if the Giants didn’t start winning, he was going to have to make a move with an eye toward the future. Well, the Giants actually won the next two games before losing in Philadelphia last week, so maybe the veteran saved his job.

The Giants will line up for action on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Bears in a game that begins at 1 PM ET at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands. Fox will televise it, and BetAnySports customers will have the opportunity to place wagers on it and keep the action going after the opening kickoff.

Bears vs Giants Odds – CJ’s Take

If you look at what the Bears have done on defense this season, they can really make a case for being the best stop unit in the NFL. After all, they have allowed fewer points per drive than any other team in the league, and naturally a lot of the credit for that has to go to the deal management made to acquire linebacker Khalil Mack, who is shaping up once again as a candidate for defensive player of the year. Mack has eight quarterback sacks, forces turnovers and is generally very disruptive of any offense that is trying to get something going. There is particular alarm here, as Manning has been sacked 38 times, but the Boys in Blue gotten some better offensive line play since the arrival of guard Javon Brown, who was picked up off waivers.

No team even really gets close to Chicago when it comes to the turnover factor; they have forced the opponent to cough the ball up on 22% of their drives, best in the league. With 20 interceptions and 34 sacks, they give themselves good enough field position to make things easier for the offense. And speaking of offense, the Bears had to go with Chase Daniel at quarterback on Thanksgiving in Detroit, because Mitchell Trubisky injured his shoulder in the previous game against Minnesota. And guess what? They did not miss a beat, as Daniel completed 27 of his 32 passes with two touchdowns. Daniel is absolutely no rookie in there; he is a journeyman who always knows the system cold and also appreciates his role in the scheme of things. So don’t expect a downgrade just because of him.

One of the things that came into question last week was that coach Shurmur did not use rookie running back Saquon Berkeley nearly enough in the second half of the 25-22 loss to Philadelphia. In fact, he touched the ball only five times. And when we say that, we consider that for the game, Barkley had 142 yards from scrimmage, which included two touchdowns in the first half of play.

The Giants may indeed clean house when all is said and done, and there are people speculating that maybe, just maybe, if Shurmur is able to stick around, whether the team may be tempted to draft his son, who is doing very well as the quarterback at Vanderbilt. Seriously, this team has to start working on its future sooner or later. The way Chicago has been playing (five straight victories, allowing just 77 points in that span), future plans might be contemplated in the here and now.
