  • Bills vs Seahawks November 7th, 2016 Week 9 NFL Betting PreviewFor a while there, it looked like the Buffalo Bills were ready to turn around their season and make a hard charge toward the playoffs. They had made a change with the offensive coordinator position, simplifying the playbook a little, and they became a rather imposing team on the ground. But now they have lost a couple of games in a row, and they haven’t looked very good in doing it. On Monday night the task does not get any easier, as they have to travel to the Pacific Northwest to face the Seattle Seahawks in a game that begins at 8:30 PM ET at CenturyLink Field. Bills vs Seahawks – CJ’s Take:

To be fair, Buffalo encountered a rampaging New England Patriots crew last week, and Tom Brady and his teammates were seeking some revenge for an earlier 16-0 shutout loss that took place while Brady was serving the final game of his four-game suspension. But their loss previous to that against the Miami Dolphins with disappointing, to say the least, because Rex Ryan’s defense allowed Jay Ajayi to gain 204 yards. So there is still an awful lot of work to be done in Buffalo. Currently the Bills are 4-4, which puts them behind teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders in the wild-card race. Truly, at this point the season there are very few teams that are “out of it,” but Buffalo really has to get it together to be a factor.

Seattle’s record is 4-2-1, having just come off an ugly 6-6 tie against Arizona and a loss to the New Orleans Saints, in which they had less than 24 total minutes of possession. That’s obviously not the way Pete Carroll wants to play the game, but the ground attack simply did not cooperate. The Seahawks have been undergoing some difficulties with their offensive line, and with the relative immobility of Russell Wilson, this is bound to cause some problems.

The Bills went without running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy against the Patriots, as he was inactive with a hamstring injury. So clearly his progress has to be monitored. McCoy was second in the league in rushing until the hamstring slowed him severely against the Dolphins, as he had only eleven yards. Obviously he was a cornerstone of Anthony Lynn’s slight re-design of the offense, which went back to basics. Last Sunday they had to make extra use of Mike Gilisleee, who did manage to have 85 rushing yrads on the day.

There are some items on the Seattle injury sheet that need the extra attention of BetAnySports patrons this week. One of those is defensive end Michael Bennett, an All-Pro who is undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. He should be sidelined at least 2-3 weeks. The team might also be without another major defender, although it is too early to tell whether Kam Chancellor, the All-Pro strong safety, can make post after sitting out the last three games with a groin injury. Head coach Pete Carroll has said that he is optimistic Chancellor can play. Left tackle Bradley Sowell, who has a sprained MCL, was originally expected to be out for a few weeks, but he is going to try very hard to be ready for this one, although it isn’t likely. And you can forget about running back Thomas Rawls, who is ready to practice after cracking a bone in his fibula. He may be back soon, but it won’t be this week, as Carroll says he would like his top ground gainer from last year to get into game shape.

Rawls’ absence means Christine Michael (4.2 ypc), who had 40 yards against New Orleans, will continue to be the featured back, but CJ Prosisse, the rookie out of Notre Dame who has just come off a wrist injury, will probably get more and more snaps as time progresses. Of course, Russell Wilson continues his battle with knee and ankle problems, and he has become much less of a threat to run with the football than he was before.

    Next up for both teams:

    • Buffalo at Cincinnati Sunday, November 20
    • Seattle at New England Sunday, November 13
