49ers vs Bills October 16th, 2016 – Week 6 NFL Betting Preview
The Buffalo Bills seem to be in a very happy place right now, and maybe this coincides with getting rid of their offensive coordinator. Whatever the reason, the bills have gotten back to basics and have won the last three games, looking very much like a team that could contend at least for a wild card position in the AFC. Last week they took care of business against the Los Angeles Rams, and now they bring a West Coast team back East, as the San Francisco 49ers pay a visit to New Era Field in Orchard Park for a 1 PM ET start. This game is televised on Fox Network regionally, and BetAnySports customers can watch it live and can place wagers on it while it is happening, challenging the NFL betting odds through the mechanism created by Live Betting Ultra.

49ers vs Bills – CJ’s Take:
Yes, it is a big story that the Bills, who fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman – formerly in that position with the 49ers – and then simplified things in their offense a little for quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who has responded. They have also gone back to the “ground-and-pound” that head coach Rex Ryan prefers, with Shady McCoy racking up some big numbers. He had 150 yards on the ground against the Rams last week (not to mention 447 on the season), and that is just the formula these guys want to use against the Niners.
The big story for San Francisco is that Colin Kaepernick will get the start at quarterback, as Chip Kelly needs to do something to jump-start this offense. More on that in a moment.
Yes, there is a lot of pressure already in the Bay Area, as San Francisco has lost four of its first five games, including a Thursday matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, who were going with their second-string quarterback, Drew Stanton. Despite the fact that Stanton was held to just 11 completions in 28 attempts, the Cardinals dominated things because they got the ground game going, with 172 yards. And Blaine Gabbert was intercepted twice. Clearly he is not the long-term answer for the Niners’ ills.
So Kelly will turn to Kaepernick, which will boost ratings, if nothing else. Truth be told, he is probably the guy who is best-suited for the kind of offense that Kelly likes to run, if we assume he still wants to use the quarterback as a running threat. No, he isn’t your classic dropback quarterback, but Kaepernick nonetheless has taken this team to the Super Bowl in the in the recent past and can provide some element of surprise. Of course, it will be no surprise if he kneels down for the national anthem, and that will no doubt be much talked about during the week, as people are seeing a decline in television ratings in the NFL, perhaps due to a concerted boycott effort.
If you want to talk about back stories here, you have to mention McCoy’s situation as well. It is well-known that he played for Kelly in Philadelphia, and the two had an acrimonious relationship to say the least. That was one of the reasons McCoy was dealt away to Buffalo before last season. So he comes back, undoubtedly, with a little bit of vengeance on his mind, and if the Buffalo offense is clicking, that is not good news for a San Francisco defense that spends far too much time on the field.
