Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers really shot themselves in the foot last week, as they dropped a 20-17 decision to a Baltimore Ravens team that had a whole boatload of players on the injured list. So now they are in the position where they not only have to win on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, but they need some help as well. They are one game behind in the wild-card race in the AFC, and perhaps they are fortunate that they will be going up against a backup quarterback in this game that begins at 1 PM ET at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland. Remember that even after the opening kickoff, BetAnySports patrons will have the opportunity to put down their wagers in real time against the football betting odds through the mechanism provided by Live Betting Extra.

In the football betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, Pittsburgh is laying points on the road:
Pittsburgh Steelers -10.5
Cleveland Browns +10.5
Over 47 points -110
Under 47 points -110
Pittsburgh is 9-6 straight-up (7-6-2 against the football pointspread) and with that loss to Baltimore, they are a game behind the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs, who would have the two wild-card spots if the season ended right now. So they know what their own task is. Remember that this is a team that has beaten the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals, so you can imagine what a big disappointment it was to lose to the fourth quarterback Baltimore has employed this season (Ryan Mallett), who isn’t even altogether familiar with the system.
On Sunday they will face a guy who has been with his current team a little bit longer than that, but not much. Austin Davis gets the start for the Browns, as Johnny Manziel will have to sit out with a concussion.
It’s a shame that the Browns were not able to get a last look at Manziel, who had started the previous three games. But Davis is a guy who has had experience as a starting quarterback with the St. Louis Rams. It’s just that this team has not generated a lot of offense lately, scoring just 53 points over the last four games. Fortunately for Davis, he does have some targets available. Tight end Gary Barnidge has been a real surprise, with 977 yards and nine touchdown catches. And then there is the constant threat of Travis Benjamin, who would have even bigger numbers than his 913 yards if he had better quarterbacks throwing to him. The question in the minds of most Browns fans is whether this team is going to be able to sign him once he becomes a free agent a few months from now.

The Steelers were held to 303 yards of total offense last week, and allowed Mallett, who had been with the Ravens only a couple of weeks, to beat them. They had scored victories over Indianapolis, Seattle in Denver in consecutive weeks prior to this. BetAnySports patrons know that the Browns’ secondary has been somewhat banged-up this year, and the statistics reveal that they have given up 31 touchdown passes and 7.7 yards per attempt. Ben Roethlisberger is a guy who goes down the field; he has averaged 8.3 yards per pass, and his main target, Antonio Brown, has monster numbers – 123 catches for 1647 yards. The other receivers are dangerous as well, so this may be a little too much for Cleveland’s lack of depth to handle.
These teams met on November 15, and Roethlisberger actually came off the bench to throw for 379 yards in the 30-9 Pittsburgh victory. All they need to do here is win, but they will be holding their breath afterward.
