Ohio State vs Hawaii – Week 2 College Football Betting Preview

Ohio State vs Hawaii – Week 2 College Football Betting Preview
In the football betting odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Buckeyes are, of course, big favorites:
- Ohio State Buckeyes -41
- Hawaii Warriors +41
- Over 65 points -110
- Under 65 points -110
The Ohio State Buckeyes didn’t look like they were in bad form last week, but it was an injury to an opposing quarterback that helped propel them to a win and cover. On Saturday they will have their home opener, as they meet up with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at the Big Horseshoe in Columbus. Remember that customers at BetAnySports have the chance to place wagers on the side, total and various props through the considerable facilities of Live Betting Extra.
Ohio State is coming off a revenge game that, for a while, was rougher than expected. They had lost in Columbus to Virginia Tech and got off to a great start in Blacksburg, but fell behind at the half until the Hokies’ quarterback, Michael Brewer, went out with a broken collarbone. From there, it was more or less a cruise on the way to a 42-24 victory, as VT’s substitute quarterback, Brenden Molley, was relatively clueless in there.
As they face Hawaii, they will not be opposing a clueless signal-caller at all. Max Wittek, who transferred from USC, is providing coach Norm Chow with his best guy yet with the Warriors, although of course the Warriors don’t have the kind of supporting cast that is all that threatening.
Yes, Ohio State is on a short week of preparation after performing in the Monday night game, but Hawaii has had a long way to travel for this game.
So why are we writing about a game where one team is favored by 41 points? Well, because it’s Ohio State, which is the #1 team in the country, not to mantion the defending national champions. And, well, also because they unveiled a new and intriguing weapon, which is a funny thing to say about a guy who was a two-time Big Ten offensive player of the year. Braxton Miller went back to school this year, eeven though Cardale Jones and JT Barrett were already in the fold, but we saw the method to the madness on Monday (there’s some illiteration for you), as he had two catches for 78 yards and a touchdown, along with 62 yards rushing and another touchdown (of 53 yards). Out of his H-back spot, he is going to run with tit; he is going to catch it. He is going to take direct snaps. He’ll throw it once in a while too. Miller is going to be a very key guy as this team moves forward.
By the way, BetAnySports customers saw the mystery resolved as Jones got the start at quarterback over Barrett. He handled things well; although he completed just nine of 18 passes, he also ran for 99 yards. For one half of football, there was a harder time than anticipated against Virginia Tech, which scored 17 unanswered points going into the locker room. But there is big upside to an offense with Miller.
Wittek’s debut with Hawaii had its highs and lows, but the Warriors won straight-up as an underdog in the football betting odds. They barely cracked the 300-yard mark, with just fourteen first downs, and Wittek, like Jones, connected on half his pases (19 for 38). He had three TD’s but was also intercepted twice.
For this game, Ohio State gets All-American defensive end Joey Bosa back, along with three of its top receivers from last season. With Northern Illinois on deck, how much will they turn loose?
