You would probably be lying if, at the start of the season, you would have said that the Golden State Warriors woud have a record of 42-9 going into the All-Star break. Yet that it’s exactly where this team is at the moment. Can they keep it up? Well, there are probably a lot of serious basketball bettors at BetAnySports who feel that they could, because in addition to all the explosiveness they possess, they are also demonstrating that they can do the fundamental things correctly.

One has to believe that bringing Steve Kerr aboard as head coach has to have something to do with it. Kerr actually had the opportunity to go to New York to coach the Knicks, but he obviously had good instincts, recognizing that he was never going to seriously challenge for title as long as Carmelo Anthony was the main offensive component. Clearly he is happy with his decision to go to the Bay Area. It would be going overboard to say that Kerr has turned this team completely around, because it was already playoff-caliber when he took over. But clearly he has helped take things to a new level.

Here is a team that is really performed against the basketball pointspread, going 31-18-2 ATS. And although there is still a fascination about what LeBron James might be able to do with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which makes Cleveland the +400 favorite to win the championship in the NBA futures at BetAnySports, the Warriors are right there, at +415.

Mark Jackson’s personality might be a bit abrasive and even political, and it may have been a little too much for management to deal with, but he was popular with some players. You have to give him credit for introducing something of a defensive “culture” to this team. That has carried over, and improved, this season. The Warriors are the best defensive team in the NBA, bar none. They have held their opponents to a lower shooting percentage than anyone else almost through the entire campaign (42%), and that has really made them a complete team.

Everybody’s familiar with what the backcourt of Stephen Curry and Clay Thompson can do. They have combined to average almost 46 points per game. Curry is best in the league with 2.2 steals per contest, and also is tied for the lead in three-pointers. Both of these guys have had explosive moments; just recently Curry had 51 points in a game, while Thompson and 37 points in ONE QUARTER, including an NBA record nine triples.

But BetAnySports patrons should know that when it comes down to it, the role players are the ones who may make the difference in putting this team over the top. We’re talking about people like Draymond Green, who is second on the team in rebounding (to Andrew Bogut); Mareese Speights, who is ninth in the NBA in the category of “Points per 48 Minutes,” which means, in effect, that he is getting the most out of his playing time; Andre Iguodala, who has been an NBA All-Star and All-Defensive Team selection; Leandro Barbosa, who is best known for adding a lot of energy to some of the past Phoenix Suns teams, and 6’7″ swingman Shaun Livingston.

Yes, these guys are loaded. So don’t sell them short. Then again, how could you?
